Understanding fixed income (London)

About the event
The fixed income markets are where companies and governments raise much of their funding.  Globally they are larger than the equity markets but are generally less well understood.  A wide range of products are traded from ‘simple’ government bonds to ‘complex’ structured products.

As the fixed income markets continue to grow it is important for professionals working in the investment community to keep up-to-date with new developments.

This session has been designed to provide an invaluable insight into the key concepts, knowledge and language that HR and L&D professionals need in order to engage effectively with their colleagues working in fixed income.

This highly interactive session will explore areas such as issuers of fixed income securities, the products themselves and how they trade in the market.  It will also provide an overview into how the market has performed over the last economic cycle and give an insight into future opportunities in this area.

By the end of the session you will understand:
  • The main fixed income markets, who are the issuers and why are they raising finance
  • The major fixed income products in the government and corporate marketplace
  • Some of the key concepts and market dynamics
  • The yield curve and how it has developed through the economic cycle.
