The issue
A leading media organisation was aware that most of its senior people lacked the financial skills and understanding they needed. Although they had attended programmes providing general finance for non-financial managers, the benefits had been short-lived - mainly because much of the information was irrelevant and not reinforced in the workplace.
The action
We designed a totally tailored programme that addressed the finance concepts and terminology they used. Covering all aspects of financial management, it included only media and organisational-specific case studies. The exercises and case studies also reflected what managers would experience when they returned to their desks.
The outcome
The programme is now a core development opportunity for the organisation’s senior managers, with demand inspired by positive feedback from previous delegates and driven by the managers themselves.
