Client case study: Managing the drivers of value

The issue

We were approached by the board of a high technology division of one of Europe’s largest telecommunications businesses.  As part of a global strategy for business development, the board wanted to up-skill the senior management team, empowering members to identify and influence the level of value creation, so creating a more entrepreneurially and financially aware cadre of management.

The action

We designed and delivered a three-day programme that took the management team through the fundamentals of business valuation, the drivers of value and a range of strategies for enhancing their return.  These included providing the means to enhance operational efficiencies, analyse effective bolt-on capex and support business growth through acquisitions.

The outcome

The programme generated a far clearer understanding of the link to value creation within the business; it also enabled team members to apply the knowledge they acquired to their operating activities.  The client is delighted with the programme and has extended its coverage, with more managers experiencing the event and driving the messages further down the organisation.
