The issue
A leading UK manufacturer needed its executive team to drive the business forward. While retaining responsibility for their own functional specialism, members had to work closely together to overcome the challenges that lay ahead.
The team needed to agree key business drivers and measures to steer the business in the right direction, without compromising the long-term vision for short-term expediency.
The action
Although the team had developed a business vision, it was bland and unable to guide executive priorities or address true business needs. So we developed a workshop through which the executive could reconsider its ambitions for the business. The team then built an integrated series of measures that would keep the business on track, provide momentum for change and offer timely information about progress.
The outcome
The team was able to unite behind a meaningful vision that expressed its ambitious business objectives. Dismissing internal measures that gave too narrow a view of success or were likely to skew organisational behaviour, the team developed relevant, useful and inspiring new targets. These formed a productive new basis for internal communications, management reporting and performance monitoring.
