The issue
An international business needed to improve the quality of its investment proposals and cases being presented to the capital expenditure committee. It wanted an industry-specific solution that was practical and learner-centred.
The action
We designed a two-day programme, with groups working on a real life investment case drawn from their own company. Each group worked through the different stages of the investment appraisal process, applying the techniques to their particular project or business case as the programme progressed.
At the end of the programme, each group formally presented its case to one of the other groups, which acted as the capital expenditure committee.
The outcome
Our client reported a significant up-skilling, which was reflected in the improved quality of business cases and investment proposals. In addition, there was a major reduction in the time spent on the approval process.
