The issue
A consortium of Mid-corporate owner-managers was looking for a focused development event that would intensify their understanding of their business finances and support their drive towards controlled growth.
The action
Participants had a wide range of knowledge and experience of business finance, so events had to let them focus on their own businesses, generally in concentrated bursts. To optimise the time spent on-course, we developed an analysis template that enabled participants to input their own performance numbers and produce performance metrics in the required format. The time spent together then focused on understanding the numbers and the patterns these numbers disclosed.
The outcome
By enabling participants to focus on the analysis of their own business, each began to recognise immediate relevance in the material. There were also some surprises about the patterns that were disclosed. Each took away their own action plans to pursue after the course, and committed to continue the debate about business performance with internal colleagues.
