The issue
A major utility company wanted to enhance and refresh the strategic skills of its internal strategy team, whose members had been drawn from diverse backgrounds. The programme was also expected to act as a team-builder, but in a practical context.
The action
We worked with the Strategy Director to design a programme focused on building core strategic skills and personal behaviours. The programme focused on enhancing the team’s influence in executive decisions and promoting their involvement in the wider business arena.
The outcome
Initially sceptical about the need for such a programme, functional strategy specialists quickly identified a variety of practical outcomes. These ranged from gaining a broader awareness of strategic models through to developing the persuasion skills to promote strategy internally and externally.
